We now have an industry-leading health guarantee

We are very excited to announce that effective 1/2/2023, all pet kittens now come with an industry leading SEVEN year health guarantee. As a breeder, we do our very best to breed healthy Maine Coon kittens for sale. However, nature can sometimes throw us for a loop and something unintended and unexpected can arise. We will stand behind our kittens when this happens. We have implemented a seven year health warranty to help cover costs if something should come up that adversely affects the health of your kitten.

Many breeders offer a one or two year guarantee, some even offer longer, but in many of those guarantees, the kitten has to pass away to take affect. We offer warranty on items that may not necessarily cause the kitten to pass away suddenly, but adversely affect their health long term, such as HCM.

As stated earlier, we do our very best to lay the foundation for a healthy kitten by breeding only the healthiest of cats. In turn, we also expect our families to do their part to make sure the kitten remains healthy as well. Families must see their veterinarian timely and regularly and must maintain proper weight of the kitten as he or she grows up. We have included the details of our warranty below.

We offer 30 days of free Trupanion insurance to all families when the kitten goes home. While we do not require families to continue this insurance, we highly encourage it. The insurance has very generous coverage and will cover just about all illness and accidents with coverage of 90% of the cost of treatment.

First 72 Hours: The Seller warrants the kitten to be free of viral or bacterial disease for 72 hours after transfer of kitten. If the kitten is found to have a viral or bacterial disease by a state licensed veterinarian, the Seller will reimburse the Buyer the cost of the treatment up to the 10% co-insurance from TrupanionTM health insurance. Proof of cost must be provided with paid receipts from the veterinarian describing the condition and treatment of the kitten. If Seller determines cost of care to be unreasonable, the Seller has the right to seek second opinion of a licensed veterinarian to determine reasonable cost and reimburse that rate. At the option of the Buyer, instead of reimbursement, the Buyer may choose to return the kitten and receive a replacement kitten of equal value. The kitten must be returned to (or arrangements made with) Seller within 48 hours of diagnosis. The Buyer must provide Seller documentation from the licensed veterinarian indicating the disease and course of treatment required. The cost of returning the kitten is at the Buyer’s expense. If a replacement kitten is not immediately available, the Buyer will be given priority for choice of the next available kitten of equal value.

Year 1: If the kitten is found to have a hereditary or congenital defect, that adversely affects the health or life of the cat within one year from the date of the sale, the Seller shall either replace the kitten with one of equal quality or reimburse the Buyer for cost of treatment, up to 100% of the purchase price, including sales tax, then reduced for any warranty payments made prior. If a replacement kitten is not immediately available, the Buyer will be given priority for choice of the next available kitten of equal value.

Year 2-5: If between the first and fifth anniversary of the date of sale, the cat is found to have a congenital or hereditary condition which adversely affects the health or life of the cat, the Seller shall replace the cat with a kitten of equal value or reimburse the Buyer for the cost of treatment, up to 50% of the purchase price, including pro rata sales tax, then reduced for any warranty payments made prior.

Year 6-7: If on the fifth anniversary and up until the seventh anniversary of the date of sale, the cat is found to have a congenital or hereditary condition which adversely affects the health or life of the cat, the Seller shall replace the cat with a kitten of equal value or the Buyer may choose to receive a reimbursement for the cost of treatment equal to 25% of the purchase price, including pro rata sales tax, then reduced for any warranty payments made prior.

Specific Warranty Exclusions: Our warranty specifically excludes items that are not listed above.  Examples of such as conditions are (not inclusive)- illness that is environmental in nature such as Feline Leukemia; accidents; digestive related illness, including ingesting foreign objects; periodontal disease, or cancer.

This warranty is in effect beginning the date of the sale and until 7 years has passed or the AbiKoons cattery closes, whichever happens first. This warranty is not transferable. Treatments for preventive care such as exams, vaccinations, parasite treatment, spay/neuter are not covered.

The total liability of the Seller shall in no case exceed the purchase price of the kitten. If Buyer chooses a replacement kitten after some prior warranty claim has been paid by the Seller, the Buyer will be required to pay the value difference.
